There comes a time in every mans life when he wonders if the way he is doing something is really the way he should be doing it.
Many times this is simply an excuse to try something new.
Other times it is rooted in the short attention span and lack of drive to get things done the man posseses.
And it would seem plausible that there would be other reasons for such behavior.
Whatever the reason. There are times that we like doing things a bit differently.
It isn’t that we are looking for a different outcome necessarily (although some times that is precisely what we are looking for). It can also be for other reasons, like we would like to get to work a bit earlier in the morning.
So perhaps instead of writing an entire post in the morning I might decide, and this is entirely hypothetical, that it would be advantageous to spend the last twenty to thirty minutes before going to bed writing part of the post for the next day.
It’s entirely hypothetical.
But it seems to make some sense.
I’ll pick this up in the morning and see what happens with it.
It’s Morning Now
When I originally set out on this plan to write for 30 days straight (week days only) I made intentional plans to write only in the morning before leaving for work.
However, over the last week or so I’ve been thinking that I’d really like to get to work a bit earlier. Interestingly enough the later I go to work the later I get to come home from work. The main hold up in my mornings is getting this blog post written and published before I leave.
So I’m going to try something different for these last two weeks of this project.
I’ll write part of the post before going to bed and then I’ll finish it up the next morning.
It seems to be working so far. 🙂
Breaking up the Monotony
I’m a pretty routine driven person. I do the same basic things each morning and tend to end my days in a similar fashion as well.
There are times when this starts to become rather monotonous and its hard to tell my Monday from my Thursday. To help combat this I find it helpful from time to time to do some part of my routine a bit differently. Not a different thing necessarily, rather the same thing just in a different way.
Sometimes that means going somewhere other than my regular place to write.
Sometimes that means sitting on the floor to read in the mornings.
Sometimes that means getting up earlier and going for a walk while listening to something.
Sometimes that means skipping the cup of coffee… (Just kidding, lets not enter into the realm of the absurd here.)
Although I don’t do things differently most of the time, it is a bit of a refreshing thing to change it up from time to time.
Happy Tuesday!
Go throw a change-up into your day. See what happens…
