Headed South – Geese – Photo
Good evening folks,
This image is one I took with the OMD that I was trying out a few weeks ago. I was getting ready to take a few pictures of these epic clouds, with the sun, framed with some pine trees… As I was lining the shot up this flock of geese came by.
So I shifted my angle just a bit and fired a couple shots.
Technically – In Terms of Processing
Really fairly simple here. All done in Lightroom’s develop module on the original RAW file. The biggest changes I made were related to exposure and highlights.
Once I had the exposure looking about right I took the brush and painted some blacks (or negative exposure) into the pine tree to give those a bit more darkness and lead the eye back towards the sky and the geese.
To finish it off I added some split toning.
I think I like the feel of this image… still not totally convinced. But I guess I’ll leave it for now.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Lovely! The wildness of a skein of geese matching the angle of the pines against a spectacular sky is amazing. I know good pictures don’t just happen but this one seems providential! Keep it up….Pop
