Ode To Life – Volvo – Photo
Good evening folks… It seems like the week has finally run out of gas.
Amazing how a week can seem at once short and long.
But that is how it goes… So here we are with the final post of this week.
This is an image that I am particularly fond of for three reasons… first off it was fun to create, second off it was fun to edit and finally and most importantly it includes one of my best friends (yes ladies he is available ;)).
Technically – In Terms of Processing
You’re going to probably hate me for this, but overall the processing was quite simple – but first off lets start with the capture. This is an HDR so I shot a set of brackets. Where this case is different is that I shot the brackets without a tripod, handheld as carefully as possible.
Once I got back to my computer I took the different exposures into Photoshops Merge to HDR and came back into Lightroom with the resulting 32 bit tiff.
From there almost everything was done in Lightroom, exposure changes, contrast, blacks and whites and a bit of a Split Tone.
To get him, my cousin, to look “normal” (HDR usually isn’t the greatest on people) I took the final HDR image into Photoshop along with one of the original bracketed images (where he looked pretty good) and simply created a layer mask and painted the good looking version of him back in.
Back to Lightroom and export for the web.
Thats it for this week – almost.
Camera Photos this Week
Now, I don’t know about you, but I love taking pictures – with whatever camera I have available.
I realize that not every one likes camera phone photography, but I have recently discovered the marvels of what exactly it means to have a “decent” camera in my pocket at all times. What makes it especially fun is the ability to take and process images on entirely with the phone. In this case I was using my my Nexus 4’s camera and a little app called Snapseed.
So here is a collection of some of my favorites from this week. This may or may not become a weekly “feature…”
Peace to each one of you – have a blessed and safe weekend, if you are covered in snow I hope your electricity stays on and you stay warm. Also I find that a good book (or homework) really helps pass the time!
