Hey guys!
It’s been a little longer than it is supposed to be between blog posts. I’ve been trying really hard to keep my schedule of Tuesday and Thursday posts here on my personal blog. The first part of this week I was in Virginia Beach with my brother for a strawberry conference. Ever since I’ve been trying to catch up on a bunch of different things.
Meeting Tony Cece
While I was in VA Beach, I was honored to spend a couple of hours visiting with a photographer friend of mine, Tony Cece! I’ve always been impressed with Tony and his work, it was really great to meet him in person.
If you don’t know who Tony is, here are a few links to give you an idea of the great photography work that he is doing for Operation Blessing.
- Tony’s Blog – The Traveling Image
- An interview with Jacob James
- An interview with Heber Vega
Definitely check out his work, he does a really great job of telling peoples stories using both photography and video.
When Life Goes Full Time
Something interesting happens when you basically leave everything you should be doing for a half a week and then come back to try to catch everything back up to speed.
I found it interesting to come back home Tuesday evening and jump right into trying to catch up on my work. One blog post went out Tuesday evening. It was Monday’s post for PhotoSiteWP.
Wednesday I spent most of the day shooting a few homes for a local contractor. Once I got home from that I finished editing a house that I shot last week for another contractor.
Thursday morning I started by visiting my tax preparation lady. Everything seemed to be in order so I signed my name on the dotted line and moved on! I spent the rest of the day at my cousins place of work. There is a remodeling project going on in my folks house. This meant that I couldn’t think very well in my regular office. I edited some more pictures and blogged another post. This one for Lburghomes. Once most things were sort of caught up I recorded a few videos. One for my CorePresets show and two PhotoSiteWP. I also talked with a few friends of mine about making a pretty big personal decision…
This morning I came to work early and have been plugging along. The first thing I did was post three blog posts. Two on PhotoSiteWP and the third over at CorePresets.com. Now I’m working on this blog post and I’ll finally be caught up posting once this one goes out the door. This afternoon I’ll be editing a bunch of pictures and hopefully pushing two more posts out the door over at Lburghomes!
Being busy is a good thing I think and when “life goes full time” it is seriously busy.
The Story of the Image
I’ve not done a terribly great job talking about the images I’ve been sharing here. Partially because I’ve had a lot of other things on my mind and partially because most of the pictures I’ve been sharing are a bit older… Ones I took a few months ago and have somewhat detached myself from.
This particular image is from about a week ago. After the snow fell [it was more snow than we normally see in a full winter] the moon came out. The moon, being almost full, was quite bright. The effect was a bit strange actually. It was almost as bright as normal daylight, but the stars could be easily seen!
I took my brothers 4 wheel drive truck back to the back of our place and hiked around in the snow for an hour or so. The camera went with me and I’ve got a few images from that night that will probably find there way onto the blog in the coming weeks.
Well folks, I think that is about it for today. I need to move on to a few other things!
Have a great weekend…

Oh, if you’d like to watch me edit another shot from this night of hiking around in the snow here is CorePresets show #7. I also talk a bit about how I went about how to go about taking pictures at night, camera settings, lens settings, etc…
