This evening I was working on a few images that will be used for several marketing campaigns around my Dad’s farm in the next few weeks. I couldn’t help but notice a couple of images that I took while we were at the beach a few weeks ago… so I worked on one of them.
As I finished this one up I couldn’t help but feel like it was a bit serendipitous that I would work on an image that correlated with a couple thoughts that I’ve been thinking lately.
I guess I knew it somewhere in my brain… but I was recently reminded of the need to continually choose to “move towards the light.” Every day there are so many opportunities, whether in relating to others, trying to find a job, working with coworkers, furthering my understanding of how something is done, to choose the better vs the not as good.
A lot of times the decision is not as clear as something being right and something being wrong. Instead there is this grey area where a couple of choices are neither good or bad… instead there are varying shades of rightness or goodness to each of them.
I’ve heard a lot of investors talking about investing in companies/startups that were started and ran by awesome people, regardless of whether the idea was amazing or not. The reasoning is that great people build great products.
Great people and great products have several things in common… I believe. They are built over time, never over night. They are the culmination of a lot of little steps towards the light, choosing the better thing over the not as good thing, even if the better thing meant a lot more work… and maybe no one would have noticed it.
So here we go… let’s go towards the light. One. Step. At. A. Time.
