Tinges of Blue – Blue Angels
This is one of my favorite images ever. Not so much because it is a photo of one of the Blue Angels, but rather because I had to do some things I wouldn’t normally do to get this image.
It was a scouting trip for the Blue Angels captains. They flew into Lynchburg one evening and left the next morning. I happened to be hanging around the evening that they had gotten there. I met a guy who worked at the airport and in passing I just happened to ask him if there was anyway I could get in early the next morning to take some pictures… He was like, “I’ll be here at seven…”
He was there and I was given about 20 minutes to walk around the plane with no one else there to get in the way.
Technically
Funny thing is that although I really like this image I’d really like to be able to make it over again. Not because I did it wrong but rather because I think I could do something else “much cooler” with it now. I guess that’s life though, we live and we learn.
So anyway, I shot the image using a tripod and shot bracketed exposures. These exposures were then blended together in Photoshop’s HDR software. Beyond that I don’t think I did to much except for cleaning things up some.
Thanks for stopping by!
