Water Glow – Lake Sunset
This image is the result of several things I really enjoyed this summer. First I took it while I was on an epic camping trip with my brother and my cousin. We spent a week on a small lake in the Adirondacks. It was a great week for many reasons, but one of the cool things was being able to “live” at the edge of the lake and watch the lake from the sun coming up in the morning till it went down at night. And then when the night came and the moon shown… the stars over the lake.
Simply brilliant.
Technically
The image is an HDR so I shot the original 7 brackets on a tripod with a fairly small aperture and a fairly long exposure time.
Once the image was blended together using Photoshops HDR engine I took the resulting 32 bit file back into Lightroom and worked on it for a while. Then I started to play with it a bit, I jumped into Photoshop and used a plugin by Topaz labs, called Simplify and then another plugin called PixelBender. These two plugins together gave me the look I was trying to come up with. The resulting image went back into Lightroom for a few tweaks and a bit of Glamour Glow from Nik’s Color Efex plugin.
So there you go – Thanks for stopping by,
