It’s been a pretty normal week, with a bit of a twist towards the end.
Right now I’m sitting in a chair in my room trying to put together the thoughts that are required to write in a semi cohesive way. The only problem is that my mind is a bit foggy at the moment.
Why is my mind a bit foggy you ask… here is why. Wednesday afternoon or evening a developer I follow on Twitter (@r00k)) mentioned that he was embarking on a 48 hour fast, and he was setting up a discord channel if anyone wanted to do join him. That kind of thing fits in pretty well with my philosophy towards food and one of this years health goals, so I joined the group. (If you’re interested in fasting at all do a google search “fasting health benefits.”)
I do want to make it clear that I am not a doctor, and I don’t play one on the internet. Take anything I say about fasting and methods in pursuing better health with two large grains of salt. Do your own research before attempting anything I talk about.
Now that the disclaimer is out of the way, let’s continue.
Last weekend something happened that surprised me a bit.
If you’ve been following the blog thus far this year, you may know that in preparing these weekly posts I like to, in theory, write throughout the week so I don’t have too much to pull together Friday evening or Saturday morning before publishing.
Often, and usually because I didn’t follow through on things, it still comes down to Friday or even Saturday morning till I get any writing for that weeks blog post done. I usually complain a little bit about it, but proceed to publish whatever it is I come up with, even if at times it is a bit under baked.
Well late last week I still wasn’t sure what I was writing about, I had a couple of ideas, but nothing that seemed super great, so it wasn’t till late Friday evening that I started writing a bit around the fact that, at times, I really want to quit things. The decision to “quit something” or “keep on” can be pretty complicated. In a nut shell that is all I was trying to say in last weeks post.
After writing a few ideas down Friday evening, I got up a bit early Saturday morning because I was planning to go turkey hunting with my brother, but, because it was raining pretty heavily when we first got up, we decided not to go chase birds. Instead I had about an hour to pull the post together and try to get it published before I needed to move on to other things.
I think I just might be on the way to getting my morning routine back. (When I first wrote this sentence the helpful autocorrect changed what I typed to “mourning routine”, perhaps that is a sign? :) )
In today’s post I thought it might be interesting to look back through my Amazon purchase history and write a bit about a few things that I’ve purchased that have either made my life better or more enjoyable. Perhaps I’ll also throw in a few things that turned out the other way as well.

It has been a bit since I’ve done a recap of how my “2019 goals” are going. The biggest reason for not updating you was my being in Budapest for a month, which provided me with afairbitofcontent. However that isn’t the only reason… the other reason is that some of these things have really been a struggle, or I’ve become a bit complacent and have convinced myself from time to time to skip/ignore some of them.
At any rate, it’s time to face the music. Part of why I wanted to start blogging again was for the accountability that it provides. As a possibly somewhat vain human I find that putting my work, and the things that I’m working on out in the public, provides a good source of “encouragement” to actually do the things!
So, with no further ado, let’s dive into the list of things I’ve set out to work on this year.
It’s been a full week. Of course most weeks are full of something, so I guess that isn’t too far out of the ordinary, but this week in particular has felt filled to the brim with moving, catching up, prioritizing tasks, wishing I could get more accomplished in a day... basically I’ve been “running just to catch my breath.”
Oh well, I guess that’s the way a week of transition tends to go. I’m not mad about it, just feeling a tad overwhelmed at the moment. :)
Ok... lets see, what all do I need to put in this post? I think the main thing to cover is the last weekend in Budapest and the trip home.
The Central Market Fiasco
The Central Market is said to be a must visit location if you’re visiting Budapest. Since the beginning of my stay in Budapest I knew that I wanted to get down there. In fact I made plans to do just that several times.
