This afternoon and evening I ran across a few things that struck varying chords inside of my conscience and being. The chords were plucked strongly enough that I thought I should take a few minutes and write them down for my future benefit and possibly yours as well. To begin with, I was watching the Gary… Read More
Today I signed into Facebook. Not so much because I like to use Facebook, but rather because the business that I do some work with has a Facebook page, part of my job is to make sure that it is kept up to date, messages get answered etc. Well, when I first signed in my… Read More
Good evening everyone!
I hope your Tuesday has gone well.
Today I want to share with you just a bit about this image. I call it “Snow at Dawn.”
The truth is that this picture almost didn’t happen. The reason: I didn’t want to get out of bed.
I did however get out of bed, get my camera out of the bag and get out to take some pictures.
On Friday I posted a quick video of the edit over on the CorePresets show.
At the beginning of this year I wrote about some of my goals for 2014.
One of the things that I mentioned was that I wanted needed to get in better physical shape.
I decided to wait a few weeks to actually start. And now the time has come for me to start a diet and work on getting in better shape.
Yesterday was indeed the first day of “The Diet.”
I thought I might tell you a little bit about this “journey.” It begins today and I’ll probably give a bit of an update each week.
I’ve tried diets before. I know you have too.
For me to follow a diet a couple things need to be in place. The diet has to actually taste good [at least most of the time]. It also has to be really simple. Maybe the biggest thing though is that I need some kind of thing to get me to do it. [You know… do this or else.]
So let’s start by talking about what exactly the diet is. The guide lines I am going to try to follow and things like that.
Like I said, I’ve tried a lot of different diets. From my favorite and the least effective [the see food diet… see food, eat it] to the ones that didn’t last [eat a lot of salad all the time] to the one that did work [I’m scared of everyone around me so I will barely eat for 6 weeks – Bible School].
Here are the basic guidelines of my “diet plan.” It is a “slow carb” type diet.
Sticking with the program.
There is pressure at times to quit doing something. The reasons may vary.
- We can be too busy.
- Or want things to be different.
- Or maybe it’s just hard to stick to the program.
- Or maybe the results aren’t there.
Today I’m thinking about two things in particular that I sort of wish I didn’t have to do. At least not today.
I do however need to do both of those things. – So I will.
Because finishing something, even though you don’t feel like it is an important life lesson. There are things that we just have to finish.
- Relationships [not sure they are ever “finished”]
- Blog Posts [because I said I would]
- Washing Dishes
- Doing Laundry
At any rate.
Shifting gears. Let’s talk a bit about photography.
Shooting the Stars
I made an image the other week. [It’s the one at the top of this post.] I kind of like it.
The reason I like it though has little to do with its technical quality.
It’s been a little while since I talked about one specific image and how I went about capturing and editing it.
I would say it’s been long enough in fact that it is time I do it again.
The Capture of Rock Paper Sunset
A month or so ago my cousin, brother and I went to a mountain (Cole Mountian) a little over an hour from my place. We hiked a trail up to the top of that mountain and found ourselves faced with a beautiful sunset sky.
We really should have started our hike a bit earlier so that we could have been on top longer enjoying the sunset, but we didn’t. So I got to work and started running around like a mad man.
