Stepping Stones – Rocks – Photo
This image was made almost exactly a year ago. A friend and I traveled to Michigan to see a mutual friend. We had an hour or so to kill before showing up at the mutual friends house, so we explored a bit around the lake that was about a mile from their house.
I made several images on this trip, of this lake shore, that I really like. But this one has to be one of the top two or three from that entire trip.
It was cold, working without gloves on my metal tripod… but it was totally worth it.
Technically
Let me see if I can remember what all I did with this image. First off it is an HDR, I believe it was a 5 or 6 exposure HDR, but I don’t remember that exactly. Since I needed a number of exposures I did shoot this on a tripod. The HDR was merged and tone-mapped in Photoshop.
Again I don’t remember the exact order I did the rest of things, but I do remember doing each of them. I used a plugin in Photoshop called “Pixel Bender.” I also cleaned up a few spots in Photoshop. The final touches were done in Lightroom, a bit of a Split Tone and a few small pushes of sliders.
That was about it… if I remember correctly.
Thanks for stopping by,
